The Hobbit

The Hobbit By: J.R.R Tolkien

To start, I LOVE THIS BOOK! I also love The Lord of the Rings. (LoTR) I try and read this and the LoTR trilogy every year. I had quite a few friend who read it back in elementary and middle school but i never picked it up. Not sure why. I found it though While I was in Barnes an Noble with my friend waiting for the 5th Harry Potter book to be released at midnight. I saw it and thought well we have time to wait and I started to read it. I was instantly hooked. Course I didn't pick it up again till after Harry Potter. :p But when I did finally pick it back up I couldn't put it down. I loved this book so much that I decided to read the LoTR. I enjoyed those too. I loved this book and other works of Tolkien that any book that I have found by him I have bought and either started to read or haven't got around to it yet. (silly habit of buying to many books and then having them sit. Since I am such a slow reader) I have also done a lot of reading about Tolkien himself who was a fascinating man. Anyway. I do love this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves fantasy. Here is what Amazon.com had to say about this book.

"Now a major motion picture

A great modern classic and the prelude to THE LORD OF THE RINGS

Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who enjoys a comfortable, unambitious life, rarely traveling any farther than his pantry or cellar. But his contentment is disturbed when the wizard Gandalf and a company of dwarves arrive on his doorstep one day to whisk him away on an adventure. They have launched a plot to raid the treasure hoard guarded by Smaug the Magnificent, a large and very dangerous dragon. Bilbo reluctantly joins their quest, unaware that on his journey to the Lonely Mountain he will encounter both a magic ring and a frightening creature known as Gollum."

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban By: J.K. Rowling

It has been so much fun re-reading these. I always feel like I get transported back to an old friend. When I re-read books not only do I remember the way i felt when I read them for the first time. but it always takes me back to where I was in a certain time in my life. I love it! If you have never read these before they are so much fun to read and such a great story and series for that matter. here's a synopsis if you are not sure what it's about.

"For twelve long years, the dread fortress of Azkaban held an infamous prisoner named Sirius Black. Convicted of killing thirteen people with a single curse, he was said to be the heir apparent to the Dark Lord, Voldemort.

Now he has escaped, leaving only two clues as to where he might be headed: Harry Potter's defeat of You-Know-Who was Black's downfall as well. And the Azkban guards heard Black muttering in his sleep, "He's at Hogwarts...he's at Hogwarts."

Harry Potter isn't safe, not even within the walls of his magical school, surrounded by his friends. Because on top of it all, there may well be a traitor in their midst."
