Fablehaven: Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary

Fablehaven: Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary  By: Brandon Mull

What a great series!!! I know I've read it before and I know I've said this after ever review but its been so long since I've read them. It's like reading them again for the first time. Kendra and Seth's adventures into the magical world continues as new twists and turns brings the Society of the Evening Star and the Knights of the Dawn closer and closer. One with the intent on destroying the world while the  other tries to save it. Each new adventure becoming more dangerous than the last.

Seriously if you love fantasy you NEED to read these books. SO GOOD!!! 😀

Fablehaven: Grip of the Shadow Plague

Fablehaven Grip of the Shadow Plague. By: Brandon Mull

Seth and Kendra's adventures continue at Fablehaven as a new threat surfaces. As the Society of the Evening Star continues to threaten life at Fablehaven and all the magical creatures that live there. A new threat inside the magical preserve surfaces with the help of the society. A dark plague starts to engulf creatures of light and even starts to take over Seth and Kendra's friends. The race to save Fablehaven from falling and all the magical creatures begins.

I am loving to re-read this series. This has been the perfect series to just enjoy right before school starts up again and I am back reading textbooks. I really enjoy Brandon Mull's writing style.

Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star

Fablehaven Rise of the Evening Star  By: Brandon Mull

I am really enjoying this series again. I remember that I really liked this series and it is what lead me to read even more books by Brandon Mull. But it has been so long since I have read them that I have forgotten a lot of details. So in a lot of way its like I am re-reading them for the first time. How wonderful is that!

In the second book you can start to see some major growth in the character Kendra. You can also see her brother Seth's growth too; but his doesn't seem as dramatic as Kendra's. But they still have some crazy dangerous adventures on their grandparent magical preserve of Fablehaven.

Fablehaven

 Fablehaven By: Brandon Mull

I read this series a few years ago for the first time and remember loving it. It has been awhile and the last two books I read were pretty intense. Also school is right around the corner and I know that my reading for pleasure will slow down considerably. So I thought now was going to be the best time to re-visit these books. Re-reading the first did NOT disappoint either. It has been so long since I read them that it was almost like experiencing the story again for the first time. There was quite a bit I had forgotten. I really enjoy reading books by Brandon Mull and it's always fun to re-visit them. If you haven't had a chance to read anything by him I strongly encourage you to do so.

SAINTS 1815-1846 The Standard of Truth

Saints 1815-1846 The Standard of Truth

I have always loved listening to the stories of the Pioneers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. But honestly this was extremely eye opening history. I've always heard of the larger incidents of persecution that these pioneers faced. Such as Haun's Mill, the prophet and apostles being tarred and feathered and of course the extermination order. But there are even more that I had never heard or knew the extent of these people's suffering while simply trying to gather as a church and practice their religious freedoms. It's amazing to see both the miracles of the Lord as well as the work of Satan to try and discourage the gospel of Jesus Christ from growing.

Code Girls

Code Girls By Liza Mundy

My husband and I had both read "The Girls of Atomic City"  and really loved it. So when we found this book both he and I were excited to start reading it. I was still in the Lunar Chronicles so he read it before me and loved it. I wasn't really in the mood for non-fiction when I started this book but I was almost instantly sucked into it. It has been so excited learning about all the various jobs and ways that woman helped during WWII. Whenever I thought of woman during the war. I always thought of the "Rosie the riveter"  woman as well as the girls who took over playing baseball to help entertain. Yes this was due to the movie "A League of their Own". But that was it. I guess that means that the classified and top secret information was never truly leaked. Until the government released certain information that got authors like Liza Mundy interested in finding out more. I am ever so glad they did too. This book was fascinating and has me wondering what other top secret or classified projects did woman do during the war.

An Amazing book!!! A must read for any non-fiction fan or historian.
