To Mothers: Carrying the Torch of Faith and Family

To Mother: Carrying the Torch of Faith and Family By: Jeffrey R. and Patricia T. Holland

This book took me a lot longer than most books would of this size and length. But that's really my fault and mainly because I love to take my time, study and mark these books. This book has so much wonderful advice, counsel and stories that for me as a mother really needed to hear. This has been such a eye opening and comforting read. I recommend this for all mothers to read.

A Whole New World

A Whole New World ~A Twisted Tale~ By: Liz Braswell

The classic fairytale that inspired Disney but with a twist. Instead of Aladdin getting the lamp from the cave of wonders. What if Jafar was able to procure the lamp instead and make his fated first two wishes of wanting to be Sultan and then the most powerful sorcerer in the world?

I've seen these stories/series for awhile now and have thought those could be interesting. Well yesterday and today I have been focusing on making some Christmas gifts and thought it would be nice to listen to a book rather than watch a show. Am I ever so glad I did!!! This story sucked me right in. It brought back nostalgia from watching the beloved Disney movie Aladdin, but also a wonderful new story twist. Without giving to much away, I really enjoyed the darker side of this story and the unlikely hero's that step up to make things right. For any Disney fan this is a must read.

InkHeart

InkHeart By: Cornelia Funke

I chose this because I wanted a story that was new and different that I could enter into. This both did and did not satisfy that want. I was hoping this was going to be one of those stories that I give into and they turn out to be something I couldn't put down. Like the Cinder and the whole Lunar Chronicles series. It wasn't quite the page turner I was hoping and at times it was a bit slow that I had to force my way through it.

However the concept was definitely new and something I had never heard of before. The concept of being able to read characters out of a book simply by reading aloud is such a wonderfully new concept that at times I felt so sorry for some of the characters that were torn from their stories. It made me think about all the books that I have read in the past and the characters and people in them. If they were suddenly thrust into our won world. It's a rather frightening and fantastical idea.

I did enjoy this story very much. I don't think it will be one of my repeats but I did enjoy it all the same.
