Leven Thumps

Leven Thumps and the Eyes of the Want. By: Obert Skye

This series has taken me a long time to get thorough. It is an interesting read. Interesting is the only word I can think of. It's not difficult but it's not one of those that I can put down. But it intrigues me. This is book 3 in the series. I really like this series, like I said it intrigues me. Here is what the author said about this book.

"Foo — the place between the possible and the impossible — is a realm inside the minds of each of us that allows mankind the power to hope and imagine and dream. The powerfully gifted Leven Thumps, once an ordinary fourteen-year-old boy from Oklahoma, has been retrieved from Reality and sent to stop those in Foo who are nurturing dark dreams and plan to invade and rule Reality.
At the end of book two, with the help of Leven, Geth was restored from a toothpick to his former self, a great lithen who travels by fate. Winter suffered the loss of her gift — the power to freeze things. Will her new vulnerability be too much to bear? Leven was attacked by the Whispered Secret, and now the Secret has escaped, ready to tell the whole of Foo how sycophants die. Will Leven find Clover before it’s too late?
Hold on to your popcorn! In book three, the war to unite Foo and Reality has begun. Not only must Leven race across Foo to stop the Secret before the deadly truth is revealed, he must travel to the island of Lith, the home of the Want — the manic dreammaster who can give Leven the gifts he needs against a foreboding army of rants and other Foo beings.
If you are willing and have the courage, you’re invited for the next adventure in book three, Leven Thumps and the Eyes of the Want. Travel to Sycophant Run, survive the Lime Sea, and discover a new gateway to Foo and a threat beneath the soil. The fooseeable adventure will keep Foo fans captivated and wanting more!"

Reading Resolution for 2013

I know that it is late for this. But shortly after the new year I got sick and ended up in the hospital for 4 days. So I haven't had a lot of time to blog. So better late then never right :) Anyway I wanted to post one of my resolutions here on my book blog since it has to do with reading.
For the past 2 years I have done thee "read 100 books this year" challenges and it' really a great thing to do. But I haven't been able to read as much as I use to. So doing something like that this year is just setting myself up for failure. So here it is.

My reading resolution this year is to try and read more. So here is what I am going to try and aim for. (all you serious readers please don't laugh to hard)

 Read 25 books in 2013

For some of you, you laugh and think I could do that in 3 months. But for me this is a high yet attainable goal. So there you have it 25 books and not the Dr. Seuss books I read to my daughter but actual books. I would love your support on this.

The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands

The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands
By: Dr. Laura Schlessinger

I hadn't finished this book and it got stuffed into a box  from the move and I couldn't find it. we;; guess what. I FOUND IT! :) and I only had 2 chapters left before I finished it so I finally just cracked it open and finished it.

EVERY Woman in ANY relationship NEEDS this book!!!! ESPECIALLY if you are married!!!!

I LOVED this book. Not only did I read this book but my husband and I talked about it as I read it. he loves it too. :) I agree almost 100% with Dr. Laura and I can see why 97% of divorces is because of the woman. Sorry ladies but YES I agree with her. I learned so much about not only relationships the difference between a healthy one and an unhealthy one. But I learned a lot about men and how so unalike men and women are. Even though we as woman would like to think that they are a lot like us. They aren't. Their needs and completely different from ours. But still have similarities. For example, We want to be loved and respected so do the. Guys want to be our big strong protecting men. So they need their egos stroked. They need to be reminded that they are needed and loved. They don't like being called names, or nagged at or villanized. There are some of my family and friends who do this to their husbands.
Seriously read this book! Give it as a wedding gift. I think this book coupled with the 5 love languages is a must have in every married persons home.

Choke By: Obert Skye

I really enjoyed the first book in this trilogy (Pillage). This one was a little harder to get through because it seemed very slow moving. In fact I have been reading a chapter here and there for quite some time now. But last night I finally finished it. and like true Obert Skye fashion that last few chapters had a lot of action and twists that kept me reading to find out what happened next. Here's a book description from Amazon. com...

"Choke, the second, continues the eccentric adventures of Beck Phillips, who seems to have a knack for causing mischief in the secluded village of Kingsplot. In book one, Beck used his unique gift to unexpectedly hatch several dragon eggs. Thankfully, the dragons were destroyed . . . or were they? In Choke, a stranger has discovered that Beck Phillips is the key to finding and hatching a lost dragon s egg a task that will bring the riches and fortune that Beck s family was destined to have. Beck learns that outward appearances can be deceiving and that grown-ups really do have valuable lessons to offer. Readers will laugh out loud at Beck s antics and sit on the edge of their seats while Beck and his friends confront Liz, the largest, most ferocious dragon Beck has ever seen!"

It's a fun book that I think any young reader would enjoy. The next and last book in this trilogy or pillogy as Obert Skye likes to call it. Is called Ambushed. I will probably read it cause I hate having a series unfinished but it may be awhile.

Mockingjay

Mockingjay By: Suzanne Collins

I really enjoyed reading this series again. I was able to catch a lot of things I missed the first time since the first time I read it so fast. I took my time as I read through the series the second time. I will admit that I do still feel like I am hanging a little at the end of this book. But I do really love this series. And I will keep recommending it to anyone who hasn't read it. :) Now it's time to move on to books that are on my "to be read" list.

Catching Fire

Catching Fire By Suzanne Collins

Once again I have already read this series. But I wanted to read it again for the same reasons as the hunger games (my last post). It was nice to know what was going on and to see all the little things that make even more sense now the second time through. I love when you re-read books and catch things that you didn't notice at first. It  sort of makes the story new again. This is a great series and if you haven't read it yet you are definitely missing out. I haven't seen the movie (the hunger games) yet but I heard it's good.
