Frankenstein By: Mary Shelly
This book has been in my "to read" pile for a long time. I have it on my kindle, my husbands kindle and my ipod in audio book form. I may even have the actual book in a box somewhere. Well when I started school last month, my English teacher told us about how this book changed her life. Ever class since then this book has been talked about at least once. So I decided it was time to read it, or at least listen to it. ;). I actually really loved it. Like Dracula I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it. I tried to take myself out of the story to see the symbolism and message that Mary Shelly was trying to make. What I found is a way to see how cruel that world can look through the eyes of someone who isn't viewed as an equal or as she put it "a monster". Anyone who is different either physical, mentally, emotionally, or any other way that society doesn't deem as "normal".
I don't know if I can say this book changed my life, but I really did enjoy it. In fact this book may go into my "must read yearly" category and next time I read or listen to it. I really might take my English teachers advice and take notes.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire By: J.K. Rowling
I really love these books. My friend Terri introduced them to me and I fell instantly in love. I went to the midnight book releases at Barnes and Noble and even bought advance screening tickets to a few of the movies. I know a lot of "useless" knowledge about Harry Potter. I have watched J.K. Rowling do interviews and...well lets just say I am a big fan and leave it at that. :) I have been re-reading the series again and loving every minute of it. It's a great way to unwind after studying my textbooks. If you haven't read them I would advise you to. If you have a hard time reading, they have them on audio book that you can listen on your ipod or on cd. :)

Miracle at Midnight
Miracle at Midnight By: L. R. Lehmann
This was a super fast read almost literally 15 minutes. But very powerful. It's the story of a man named Joesph and a lady named Lucille in 1853 London. It's a sweet story of these two and their special connection. A simple yet sweet Christmas story.

My Masters Touch
My Master's Touch By: Lynda M. Nelson
This was a book that I borrowed and I am so happy I did. This helped put a different perspective on the life of the Savior. This whole story was through the eyes of a little burro that was born to the burro who carried Mary to Bethlehem. In the story the little burro was born just before Jesus and became fast friend with the Savior. They grew up together and this little burro followed and helped the Savior throughout his life and even followed him into the next life. This story was so powerful and is a really cute.
Here's what amazon said:
"My Master's Touch, this remarkable storyteller has created a parable for all ages--a beautiful retelling of the story of Jesus, as seen through the eyes of a burro named Meshak.
A faithful and loving companion, Meshak follows and serves Jesus throughout His life. In time the burro grows to understand the importance of the light that Jesus strives to kindle in people's souls. Ultimately Meshak comes to realize that Jesus is like the oil that fills a lamp, guiding our way out of the darkness... and into the light of eternal love.
My Master's Touch is a timeless tale that is destined to become a beloved part of every reader's life. A story to be read aloud and cherished, a gift to be passed down from generation to generation."

The Hobbit
The Hobbit By: J.R.R Tolkien
To start, I LOVE THIS BOOK! I also love The Lord of the Rings. (LoTR) I try and read this and the LoTR trilogy every year. I had quite a few friend who read it back in elementary and middle school but i never picked it up. Not sure why. I found it though While I was in Barnes an Noble with my friend waiting for the 5th Harry Potter book to be released at midnight. I saw it and thought well we have time to wait and I started to read it. I was instantly hooked. Course I didn't pick it up again till after Harry Potter. :p But when I did finally pick it back up I couldn't put it down. I loved this book so much that I decided to read the LoTR. I enjoyed those too. I loved this book and other works of Tolkien that any book that I have found by him I have bought and either started to read or haven't got around to it yet. (silly habit of buying to many books and then having them sit. Since I am such a slow reader) I have also done a lot of reading about Tolkien himself who was a fascinating man. Anyway. I do love this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves fantasy. Here is what Amazon.com had to say about this book.
Bilbo
Baggins is a hobbit who enjoys a comfortable, unambitious life, rarely
traveling any farther than his pantry or cellar. But his contentment is
disturbed when the wizard Gandalf and a company of dwarves arrive on his
doorstep one day to whisk him away on an adventure. They have launched a
plot to raid the treasure hoard guarded by Smaug the Magnificent, a
large and very dangerous dragon. Bilbo reluctantly joins their quest,
unaware that on his journey to the Lonely Mountain he will encounter
both a magic ring and a frightening creature known as Gollum."
