The One

 The One By: Kierra Cass

I could not put this book down. It was so good and had so many new twists and turns. I was amazed to see the story lines of each character open up a little more. It had me routing for America and Maxon's relationship even more than I was before. Also I learned to love a certain character that up till now I didnt really like. The end of the book had me both very sad and very happy. This is all I am going to say so I dont give away any spoilers.

The Elite

The Elite By: Kiera Cass

I am thoroughly enjoying this series. Although I do have to say there are some rather cringe worthy moments, and i do get a little frustrated with the lead character America's way of perceiving somethings and situations. But this book has been so much fun and I'm excited for the next book in the series.

The Selection

The Selection By: Kiera Cass

I thought Id give this series a chance. I have had this series on my "to read" list but never really thought to seriously about it. However I have enjoyed it immensely. This book has given me nostalgia for both The Hunger Games series and the Lunar Chronicles series (Cinder and such). Its funny how it feel like both to me even though this book had a different story line. This was one of those "cant put it down" books that I have not had in awhile and it was very refreshing. I am super excited to start book 2 and to see what happens to the characters.

Chernobyl The History of a Nuclear Catastrophe

Chernobyl The history of a nuclear catastrophe By: Serhii Plokhy

The events of Chernobyl and really everything about it has always intrigued me. So as soon as I found this book it intrigued me and I added it to my "to read" list. I really enjoyed learning about Chernobyl and the events surrounding it before, during and after. It was frustrating to see how much political interference and naivety surrounded the catastrophe which caused more harm than needed. In some cases it escalated the dangers to the surrounding area, people and potentially the world.

Overall I did enjoy the book from the historical stand point, it was very interesting. However it was also very frustrating to hear about how the catastrophe was handled both in the moment as well as afterwards. It was frustrating to see how the Russian nuclear leaders and government was more concerned about passing the blame so they don't get in trouble instead of trying to figure out the best way to handle the situation.

Go The Distance

Go the Distance By Jan Calonita

I am seriously loving the twisted tales series. It gives such a new look on these beloved and classic Disney stories. Plus it adds new background stories to characters that normally wouldn't have their story told.  This one was especially fun for me. All throughout later elementary, middle and high school I read any book I could get a hold of about Greek Mythology, so I know the stories well. So it was fun to read this and see one of those stories being played out. The story (or myth) of Hades and Persephone comes to light in this story which was neat to see yet a gain a different side being told of a already familiar story; or at least its familiar to me.

These books are so much fun and are a great read for anyone who enjoys Disney or just fantasy stories in gerneral.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea By: Jules Verne

This is a classic that has been on my "to read" list for many years. My husband read this book and loved it and has been wanting me to read it for about 3 years now so that we can talk about it together. I finally decided now was the time and to not put it off any longer. :) Growing up hearing variances of the story and seeing snippets of various tv and movie adaptations I had an idea of what I could have possible be getting into. I was completely wrong. This book was nothing what I was expecting. Instead of an epic underwater sea monster and alien world battle. It was more of an academics point of view of the wonders of what lies under the sea. In a futuristic underwater vessel captained by a very complex and carnally driven man. I am very glad that I have finally checked it off of my classic list and can now add it to my shelf of books that I have read. But unlike classics such as The Scarlet Pimpernel, or Frankenstein. This is a classic book that I will probably not revisit.

Picasso and the Painting that shocked the World

Picasso and the Painting that shocked the World By: Miles J Unger\

I enjoyed learning more about Picasso and his life. This book was very interesting and insightful into his life as well as his creative inspiration. I think I would like to revisit this book in paper form however. That way I can do research into the paintings that are talked about as well as the other artists.
